Cambodian Artists Shine at China-ASEAN Intangible Cultural Heritage Week

Phnom Penh, April 18, 2024 – A group of talented Cambodian artists from the Department of Performing Arts, under the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, recently showcased their skills at the China-ASEAN Intangible Cultural Heritage Week. This cultural event, which took place from April 11 to 15, 2024, in Nanning, People’s Republic of China, also saw participation from artists across ASEAN countries including Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

The event served as a vibrant platform for sharing and celebrating the rich tapestry of intangible cultural heritage that both China and the ASEAN nations cherish. With a deep-rooted connection through shared geography and cultural similarities, the festival aimed to foster stronger ties between the participating countries through artistic exchange.

This year's theme focused on the protection and utilization of intangible cultural assets, promoting the development of cultural tourism, and furthering the collaborative efforts in building a shared China-ASEAN cultural heritage landscape.

The week-long festivities were filled with performances that highlighted traditional music, dance, and other cultural expressions, providing an insightful glimpse into the diverse cultural heritage that defines the ASEAN region and China. The artists’ participation not only showcased Cambodia’s unique cultural offerings but also highlighted the country’s commitment to cultural preservation and international cultural exchange.
